SIUH / 1199 Negotiation Update – 6/16/2020
On behalf of the entire Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) leadership team and negotiating committee, we want to express our sincere thanks for the remarkable courage and steadfast commitment to patient care that you demonstrated over the past few months. As caregivers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, you should be proud of how you navigated this unprecedented crisis. Your heroic actions had a powerful ripple effect throughout SIUH and beyond.
As we continue our road to recovery, we’re pleased to report that collective bargaining is again underway between SIUH and 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East (1199) to negotiate the terms and conditions of our Physician Assistants’ employment. Adapting to the realities of our time, the parties are negotiating via videoconference. At today’s negotiation session, 1199 and SIUH had productive discussions about some remaining non-economic items culminating in tentative agreements on three of them, including holiday/personal time and weekend scheduling.
With renewed focus on the collective bargaining we hope to maintain this momentum at our next negotiation session, which is scheduled for July 15.
We encourage you to stay informed throughout the negotiations by visiting this website and signing up for text message alerts by texting SIUHPA to 333-111.
Thank you for your continued interest in the negotiations.
