SIUH / 1199 Negotiation Update – 1/29/2020

Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) and the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East labor union (1199) met on Tuesday, Jan. 28, for our tenth negotiation session.

Both SIUH and 1199 recognize the importance of role modeling safe patient care for the next generation of clinicians. With this shared interest in mind, we reached an agreement with 1199 to work together to enhance our existing preceptorship program. It’s important to all of us that our PAs have a voice in shaping the preceptor program, and we believe this agreement will help facilitate a collaborative process.

If you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to sign up to receive timely text message alerts about the status of negotiations by texting SIUHPA to 333-111. Text messages are factual, infrequent and brief, and contain a link to the full update residing on this dedicated website for SIUH PAs. You may also opt out at any time by replying STOP.

As we’ve stated since negotiations began, we are fully committed to bargaining in good faith toward a fair and fiscally-responsible contract that balances the needs of both parties, and we look forward to making further progress at our next negotiation session on Feb. 19.
